asheville

last weekend we vacationed in asheville for three days to celebrate our anniversary and both our birthdays, which conveniently occur in a two week window. i didn’t take a lot of pictures because i’m trying to have my phone on my person less… but i did get a couple cool shots at the arboretum.

trip highlights:

our lovely airbnb, a first for us! the location was awesome, we had a kitchen, and a peaceful back deck with garden views and a private space for yoga. A+.

visiting the nc arboretum – bonsai exhibit, butterfly room, beautiful curated gardens. the highlight for me though were the hiking trails. they are so well built and maintained! the property is gorgeous too. we took a long stroll and i felt like we were in a fairytale the whole time. we saw massive spiders, rainbow trout, rhododendron blooming, waterfalls, and so many mushrooms!

new belgium brewing company and french broad river greenway – we stayed in walking distance of the brand new brewing facility and man is it awesome. it’s located right on the river and the atmosphere is so laid back. we drank our beers on the lawn, listening to a live band and reading our books. afterwards, we took a dusk walk on the greenway. so awesome!

this was a good visit to asheville for me because it gave me a taste of the city. i’ve visited plenty, but i’ve never stayed in town. staying in the west asheville neighborhood helped me think through asheville as a potential relocation spot. i don’t think i have the desire to live in another small city again, even though asheville was plenty fun and all. i’m ready for a county adventure 🙂
